ALMOST 700 DOGS WILL CONVERGE ON KERRVILLE TO
COMPETE FOR BEST IN SHOW HONORS

Meet some of AKC’s 180 Breeds and talk to Responsible Breeders
KERRVILLE, TEXAS, March 9-11, 2018 – San Antonio Kennel Club is pleased to
announce that it will hold its 181 st and 182 nd American Kennel Club licensed all-breed
dog shows in Kerrville on March 10 & 11 at the Kerr County Youth Activity Center.
Almost 700 dogs will compete for the coveted Best in Show trophies. The Greater
Kerrville Kennel Club will kickoff the weekend on Friday, March 9 at 6:00pm with an
“A” Match. The Shorthair Pointer Club of San Antonio and the Basset Hound Club of
Greater San Antonio will hold concurrent Specialty Shows on Saturday, March 10.
“We are delighted to announce that Walt Koenig, President and CEO of the Kerrville
Chamber of Commerce will present the Best in Show Trophy on Saturday. We welcome
spectators to San Antonio Kennel Club’s annual shows”said Robert Stein, Show Chair of
the San Antonio Kennel Club. “This is not only a fun activity for families, but it is the
perfect place to talk to breed experts about topics such as training, grooming, and the
right breed for your lifestyle. An AKC dog show is also a great place to start your search
for a responsible breeder. Join us for MEET THE BREEDS on Saturday from 11:00am-
1:00pm.”
An additional exciting event is the Fast CAT dog race featuring a 100 yard dash which is
open to all breeds. Entries will be taken onsite. All entered dogs must be AKC registered
and at least 12 months of age. Fast CAT races sponsored by Alamo Area Whippet Club
will be held both Saturday and Sunday.
Attention shoppers! Vendors will be selling dog related items, such as treats, supplies,
equipment, and gift items. The Life Skills Class from Tivy High School has, again,
prepared homemade dog treats for sale.
Veterans Assistance Dogs of Texas will have a booth with information on the very
exciting and dynamic work they do to train and provide assistance dogs to American
veterans. Come learn about this group and meet their dogs.
There will be a raffle with an assortment of items on which to bid. You can also try your
hand at the Chuck a Duck competition.
Food will be available for purchase from the Come and Get It Chuck Wagon.
Ample free parking is available under direction of the San Antonio Kennel Club assisted
by Our Lady of the Hills Regional Catholic High School Key Club. Admission is free.
Show hours are 9:00am until 5:00pm. There can be NO UNENTERED DOGS on the
showgrounds due to health laws and show rules. Service dogs are always welcome.
San Antonio Kennel Club held its first show in 1914 with an entry of 29 breeds.
