Workforce Solutions Alamo Hosts 2nd Annual Winter Season Food Drive
Benefiting the San Antonio Food Bank
Food donations accepted at 16 area career centers throughout the month of January

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS - Workforce Solutions Alamo is hosting their second annual Winter Season Food Drive benefitting the San Antonio Food Bank now through January 31, 2023.  Non-perishable food donations will be accepted at Workforce Solutions Alamo’s 16 career centers located throughout the region.
Items most needed include: Peanut butter, mac & cheese, chili & soups, tuna, rice, beans, cereal, canned lunch meat, pop top food items, full meals (can or box), baby food & diapers, and pet food.
“Workforce Solutions Alamo is proud to support our valued Alamo Workforce Consortium partner, the San Antonio Food Bank, and its 100,000 clients they serve on a weekly basis,” said Adrian Lopez, CEO for Workforce Solutions Alamo. “Food insecurity lasts longer than the holiday season. It is a year-round need and we want to do our part to ensure area residents continue to have access to food today as well as employment opportunities that enable food and financial security on a permanent basis.”
Workforce Solutions Alamo integrates and expands employment and training services available for people who access resources from the Food Bank by providing a co-located career center onsite at the Food Bank main facility. While the San Antonio Food Bank currently provides several training programs in partnership with local agencies for individuals in the culinary and warehousing industries along with job assistance and job readiness services, people obtaining assistance at the Food Bank may not be connected to and/or aware of additional workforce services provided through the local workforce system. Integrating services provided by the San Antonio Food Bank with Workforce Solutions Alamo’s onsite career center allows for a deeper leveraging of resources to meet the needs of community members who are unemployed or underemployed – meeting clients where they are at.
In 2022, Workforce Solutions Alamo was able to collect more than 1,200 pounds of food in support of the local community. Area businesses and residents are encouraged to donate to neighbors in need throughout the month of January at any Workforce Solutions Alamo Career Center location or directly to the San Antonio Food Bank.
