MUSEUM TO HOST BOOK SIGNING WITH NOTED CUSTER HISTORIAN
The Museum of Western Art will host a book signing for historian and artist Michael Donahue’s new book on George Armstrong Custer on Saturday, January 12, from 2-4 p.m. Where the Rivers Ran Red: The Indian Fights of George Armstrong Custer will sell for $36.95 plus tax.
 
Donahue is a nationally recognized artist, author and historian who currently lives in Belton, Texas. He has been the chairman of the Temple College Art Department for 39 years and in 1993 was named one of the best 10 professors from all Texas universities and colleges. He will spend a record-breaking 30th summer as a seasonal National Park Ranger and historical interpreter at Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument in Crow Agency, Montana, this summer.
His award-winning book Drawing Battle Lines was published in 2007 and his new book is on Custer’s Indian fights. It is titled, Where the Rivers Ran Red-The Indian Fights of George Armstrong Custer and is the product of 45 years of research on the battle. Donahue is known as one of the leading world experts on the infamous battle of the Little Bighorn. He has published numerous articles on Little Bighorn and his artwork has been used in numerous publications. His research is also the subject of a BBC docudrama created in 2007 called “Custer’s Last Stand.”
Of his newest book, the publisher states, “Donahue is the first author writing about the Indian fights of Custer who has compiled a detailed look at all four of his fights in one comprehensive volume.”
Donahue earned his BFA, MA and MFA degrees in art and history from Stephen F. Austin State University. He is a native Texan and a practicing artist with over 50 exhibitions to his credit.
