Date: December 15, 2016
Time: 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM CST
Event Description:
The Museum of Western Art will host its Artist of the Month reception on Thursday, December 15, 2016, at 5:30 pm with Western Artist Jay Hester. Non-museum members are invited to attend the wine and cheese reception with a suggested donation of $10; museum members, of course, attend at no charge. Hester's exhibition, "Texas - Stories of the Land", consists of paintings of significant events in early Texas history that are testament to Hester's in-depth study of his subject matter. The oil paintings are accompanied by interpretive text panels of Comanche and Apache, Texas Rangers, and events that occurred in the Texas Hill Country. Regarding his painting, "Lasting Friendship," he said: "Once again, learning about the German influence and the relationship with the Comanche tribes that roamed the Hill Country... gave me inspiration for my artistic creations." The award-winning Museum of Western Art is located at 1550 Bandera Highway in Kerrville. Hours are 10:00 am until 4:00 pm Tuesday through Saturday. For more information, please call 830.896.2553
